Motion of a rod-like particle between parallel walls with application to suspension rheology
نویسنده
چکیده
e study the dynamics of elongated axisymmetric particles undergoing shear flow between two arallel planar walls, under creeping-flow conditions. Particles are modeled as linear chains of ouching spheres and it is assumed that walls are separated by a distance comparable to particle ength. The hydrodynamic interactions of the chains with the walls are evaluated using our artesian-representation algorithm Bhattacharya et al., Physica A 356, 294–34

Modeling the Rheology and Orientation Distribution of Short Glass Fibers Suspended in Polymeric Fluids: Simple Shear Flow
In this paper we present a constitutive relation for predicting the rheology of short glass fibers suspended in a polymeric matrix. The performance of the model is assessed through its ability to predict the steady-state and transient shear rheology as well as qualitatively predict the fiber orientation distribution of a short glass fiber (0.5 mm, L/D < 30) filled polypropylene. In this approac...
متن کاملParticle motion between parallel walls: Hydrodynamics and simulation
The low-Reynolds-number motion of a single spherical particle between parallel walls is determined from the exact reflection of the velocity field generated by multipoles of the force density on the particle’s surface. A grand mobility tensor is constructed and couples these force multipoles to moments of the velocity field in the fluid surrounding the particle. Every element of the grand mobil...
متن کاملActive Suspension System in Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicles
In previous studies, active suspension system in conventional powertrain systems was investigated. This paper presents the application of active suspension system in parallel hybrid electric vehicles as a novel idea. The main motivation for this study is investigation of the potential advantages of this application over the conventional one. For this purpose, a simultaneous simulation is develo...

متن کاملTiO2 Pigment Suspension Behaviour upon Adsorption of Polymeric Dispersants
The influence of polymeric dispersants containing different functional groups on TiO2 pigment particle suspension was investigated at pH 6.0 and 9.5, using rheology and particle size data. The dispersants chosen were polyacrylic acid and modified polyacrylamides including homo and copolymers modified with carboxylate and/or hydroxyl groups. The pigment suspension was strongly affected by both p...
